What is Osteoarthritis of the Knee

Stages of Osteoarthritis

In healthy knee joints, a firm, rubbery material called cartilage covers the end of each bone. Cartilage provides a smooth, gliding surface for joint motion and acts as a cushion between the bones. In OA, the cartilage breaks down, causing paint, swelling, and problems moving the joint.

As OA worsens over time, bones may break down and develop growths called spurs. These bits of bones or cartilage may chip off and float around in the joint.

In the final states of OA, the cartilage wears away and bone rubs against bone leading to joint damage and more pain.

Our Therapy

Our pain relief program is a critical piece to your continuum of care. Many of our patients have tried and exhausted use of corticosteroids injections, pain relievers, over-the-counter braces, custom footwear and found none to limited pain relief.

Our FDA-approved therapy consists of a series of precision-guided knee joint injections of a viscosupplement. The “visco” cushioning gel is an all-natural replacement for the depleted synovial fluid in your knee joint and acts as “lubricant” and “shock absorber.”

Unlike most clinicians who administer viscosupplement injections blindly (actually missing the joint area completely 30% of the time*), our specially trained physicians use advanced fluoroscopic digital imaging so that we know we’re getting the “visco” gel in the joint every single time.

Many patients are then fitted for a knee brace that uniquely supports their knee movement and gait. With these effective protocols in place, our patients oftentimes experience immediate pain relief. Without the excruciating pain hobbling their movement, they’re able to be more active and independent.

This comprehensive therapy combined with a sensible diet, increased movement, and exercise go a long way in decreasing the adverse impact of osteoarthritis on the physical and mental health of our patients.

Yes, I’m tired of living in pain. I’d like to schedule a no-obligation knee pain screening.
